French company Vintech will debut its homage to the Porsche 550 Spyder at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event this weekend.
Porsche's delicious 550 Spyder has been a fan favourite for many years and was of course mythologised by ill-fated actor James Dean and his "Little Bastard."
The Vintech 550 Tribute's looks are closely based on the less-famous Coupe, a car built for endurance racing.
Vintech claims the engine delivers just over 200kW and is mated to a five-speed transmission.
The Vintech 550 Tribute features a spaceframe chassis said to come in at a featherweight 550kg.
Helping to keep weight down is a liberal use of carbon fibre, also ensuring the 3.0 litre flat-four isn't worked too hard.
The Vintech blog has a sizeable collection of photos detailing the build of the 550 Tribute, with renderings, diagrams and component pictures, including the carbon floor and the carbon-clothed spaceframe.
