Tuner swaps Toyota Fortuner front end onto HiLux
As Australia's best-selling vehicle of 2020, how do you make your HiLux look unique? One tuner has an idea.
Want to make your Toyota HiLux stand out from the sea of utes? One tuning shop might have a solution.
Philippines-based tuner Atoy Llave has swapped the front end from a Toyota Fortuner onto a HiLux, delivering a unique look for Australia's highest-selling model.
The Fortuner shares its underpinnings with the HiLux, being the SUV version of the dual-cab ute, making the conversion a relatively simple job.
Front-end swaps aren't as popular as they used to be, with the noses of Holden Statesman and Ford Fairlane luxury Australian sedans often seen bolted onto garden-variety Holden and Ford utes across Australia in decades past.
HiLux models from the 1990s often wore different noses between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions, with some even using the lights and grille from HiLux Surf and 4Runner SUVs – literally forerunners (no pun intended) to the Fortuner.
The Manilla-based Atoy Llave has developed a reputation for building tough utes and four-wheel-drives, with its Instagram page enjoying a following of more than 50,000 enthusiasts.
