Features stripped from 2024 Ford Ranger and Everest

Key features – including automatic high-beam headlights – have been stripped from variants of the Ford Ranger and Everest as part of mid-2024 model updates.

The mid-year update for the 2024 Ford Ranger and 2024 Ford Everest – referred to as (model year) MY24.5 – has resulted in a loss of several key features, while other equipment has been added.

While the additions were previously reported in January 2024, Ford has confirmed to Drive the Ranger line-up will no longer receive access to the MyKey programming safety feature, while the XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, and Wildtrak have had automatic high-beam removed as standard equipment.

There have also been changes made to the availability of the Tough Bed Spray-In Bedliner, and Ford has discontinued the optional Raptor Beadlock Capable Wheels and Decal Pack.

On the Everest, the under-bumper kick sensor for the power tailgate has been removed across the line-up, while the Ambiente, Trend, and Sport variants all lose automatic high-beam, leaving the Platinum to retain the feature.

The Everest also loses Ford MyKey capability, which allows car keys to be programmed with a speed limit, radio volume limit, and seatbelt alerts.

It is not uncommon for car companies to quietly delete small features as part of running production changes – but it is unusual for it to occur so early in the life cycle of the Ranger and Everest, which have been on sale for less than two years.

Both Ranger and Everest line-ups will see minor changes to badging, according to Ford Australia.

However, while some equipment has been removed, Ford has tweaked the list of standard features for the two popular models – as previously reported.

Pro Trailer Backup Assist now comes on the Ranger Wildtrak, Platinum, and Raptor models, and can be optioned on Ranger XLT and Sport.

Though standard on the Platinum, buyers of the Ranger Sport and Wildtrak can now option the Flexible Rack System – and with the exception of the single-turbo Ranger XL, all variants now feature auto engine stop-start to help improve fuel economy and emissions when the vehicle comes to a halt.

The Ranger XL gains Heavy Duty Suspension as standard, while the Ranger XLS gains the Tow Pack and Tech Pack.

Everest Trend and Sport buyers now receive Zone Lighting and Stand-off Roof Rails – which were previously only standard on the Platinum – while all three variants can now option Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

All changes came into effect on Ford Ranger and Everest line-ups from March 2024 production.
