World’s fastest SUVs go head-to-head in drag race
The Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi RSQ8 battle over a quarter mile, and the results may surprise you.
A drag race between four of the world's fastest SUVs has been conducted by carwow.com, and the results may surprise you.
Taking place over a quarter mile stretch of runway in the UK, the race included a Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi RSQ8.
All four brands are part of the giant Volkswagen Group, and share much of their underpinnings and mechanicals.
The Lamborghini Urus has a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 478 kW and 850Nm of torque.
On paper it accelerates from 0 to 100kmh in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305kmh.
In Australia it starts from $390,000 (plus on road costs).
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S has a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 and a 100kW electric motor, which combined produces a peak power output of 500kW and 900Nm.
On paper the Porsche is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 295kmh.
In Australia it starts from $292,800 (plus on road costs).
The Bentley Bentayga has a 6.0 litre twin turbo W12 engine that produces an epic output of 467kW and 900Nm.
It has a claimed acceleration from 0 to 100kmh in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306kmh.
In Australia it starts from $432,700 (plus on road costs).
The Audi RSQ8 has a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 that produces 441kW and 800 Nm of torque.
It has a claimed acceleration from 0 to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305kmh.
In Australia it is sold from $208,500 (plus on road costs).
In the side-by-side drag race experiment, all four high-performance SUVs were separated by less than two-tenths of a second.
The Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S both crossed the line in 11.6 seconds.
However, the footage showed the Lamborghini appeared to be ahead of the Porsche by a metre or two.
The Audi RSQ8 trailed in third place, with a time of 11.7 seconds.
The Bentley Bentayga, with the most air to push out of the way, came last with a still-respectable time of 11.8 seconds.
