Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA sold out worldwide
The hardcore, lightweight take on the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio have sold out, with all 500 examples now assigned to buyers after 18 months.
All 500 examples of the special-edition 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm have been assigned to customers, some 18 months after the car made its public debut.
The 500-unit tally includes 18 examples bound for the Australian market, with the majority of local orders placed for the hardcore, two-seat Giulia GTAm variant, and a "limited" number of the four-seat GTA – though the exact split between versions isn't known.
"To all intents and purposes, the Giulia GTA is now a collector’s car. Presented to the international press last May, the 500 numbered units have all now been sold to customers from all over the world, including significant numbers from China, Japan and Australia, making it a commercial success on an international level," reads a statement from Alfa Romeo.
Revealed in March 2020, the Giulia GTA and GTAm were introduced to celebrate 110 years of the Alfa Romeo brand, and revive the nameplate and lightweight focus of the 1965 Giulia GTA.
Power comes from a reworked 397kW/600Nm version of the Giulia Quadrifoglio's 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6, joined by Sauber Formula One-designed aerodynamic elements and a circa-100kg weight saving – with the GTAm swapping the GTA's rear seats and boot lid lip spoiler for a large rear wing, metal roll cage, six-point harnesses, and more.
However, with eye-watering $266,000 and $268,000 before on-road costs local price tags for the GTA and GTAm respectively – nearly twice that of the $138,950 Quadrifoglio variant on which they're based – the Alfa Romeo duo haven't enjoyed the same immediate sell-out success as similar limited-run track specials from brands such as Porsche and BMW.
First Australian deliveries of the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm will commence before the end of 2021.
