Skoda reveals new Superb, Kodiaq interiors before full unveiling
The interiors of Skoda’s flagship Superb and Kodiaq large cars have been shown off just a handful of months before the next-generation models are revealed.
Volkswagen-owned car-maker Skoda has revealed the first interior images of its upcoming new-generation Superb large car and Kodiaq SUV, due to be unveiled in full later this year.
The petrol-powered models are Skoda’s flagship large vehicles, and have been positioned against more traditional up-market rivals in recent years.
Despite being owned by the Volkswagen Group, it appears the new-generation Superb and Kodiaq will not adopt Skoda’s parent company’s controversial touch-sensitive climate and volume controls – instead continuing to use rotary dials, albeit with a modern twist.
The two outer dials control the climate settings for the driver and passenger respectively, while pushing them in can engage the Skoda’s heated and cooled seats.
A centre dial allows occupants to adjust the fan speed and air direction, though by again pushing it in, controls for the infotainment system volume, driving modes or navigation zoom function are accessible.
Both the new Skoda Superb and Kodiaq will be equipped with a column-mounted automatic gear selector and a two-spoke steering wheel – fitted with an array of dash, infotainment and cruise control adjustments.
While the digital instrument cluster from both models is unchanged at 10.25 inches, the infotainment touchscreen has grown to 12.9 inches (up 3.0-inches) – with a head-up display now available in the model range for the first time.
The Skoda Superb and Kodiaq will be equipped with a wireless smartphone charger – capable of charging one device at a time in the liftback/wagon, and two at once in the SUV – which includes an active cooling function to prevent overheating.
Up to four USB-C ports are included in the vehicle’s cabins, not including a fifth located on the rear-view mirror for dash-cam users.
According to Skoda, the Superb and Kodiaq will be available with massaging seats, though it’s not yet clear if all model grades are equipped with this function.
As previously reported, the 2024 Skoda Superb and Kodiaq are expected to be unveiled in the northern autumn of 2023 (September to November), before both are due to arrive in Australia throughout the second half of next year.
