2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max price and specs: One of the cheapest new seven-seat SUVs in Australia

The largest model yet from Chery in Australia – the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max seven-seat SUV, a rival for the Mitsubishi Outlander – has arrived in showrooms, priced from $41,990 drive-away.
The Chinese-built Tiggo 8 Pro Max is one of the most affordable new seven-seat SUVs on sale in Australia, dearer than only the Mahindra XUV700 (from $36,990 drive-away) and LDV D90 ($38,937 drive-away).
Measuring 4720mm long, Chery's newest model is sized similarly to a Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace or Honda CR-V seven-seater – but smaller than a Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe or Toyota Kluger.
The starting price for the new seven-seater is $2000 higher than its smaller Tiggo 7 Pro twin under the skin, which is about 200mm shorter bumper to bumper, only has five seats, and uses a smaller 1.6-litre engine.
All Tiggo 8 Pro Max models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 180kW and 375Nm, routed to the front or all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Front-wheel-drive variants are rated with a combined fuel consumption of 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres.

The Tiggo 8 Pro Max measures 4720mm long, 1860mm wide and 1705mm tall, on a 2710mm wheelbase. There is a claimed 117 litres of boot space with all seven seats upright, which expands to 479 litres with the third row folded.
Standard features in the entry-level Urban variant include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch interior screens, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Sony stereo, and a suite of active safety technology.
More expensive models add a power-operated tailgate, 19-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, two extra speakers, and in the top-of-the-range Ultimate, all-wheel drive.
