2023 Fiat 500 price and specs: Petrol version gets another price rise

The petrol Fiat 500 city hatch will live on alongside the new, more expensive electric model – but it has received its second price rise in 12 months, and the model line-up has been halved.

  • 2023 Fiat 500 pricing and specifications
  • Dolcevita now the only model, with $1420 price rise
  • No more option packs, more standard features
  • Priced from $27,220 plus on-road costs

The 2023 Fiat 500 petrol city hatch – which marked its 15th birthday in Australian showrooms earlier this year – will live on alongside the recently-arrived electric version.

However there is now only one model grade – the previously top-of-the-range 500 Dolcevita – and it is $1420 more expensive than before, at $27,220 plus on-road costs (or about $30,000 drive-away).

The price of entry has climbed by $4120 with the axing of the base Lounge variant, and the latest price rise for the Dolcevita means it is almost $3000 dearer than it was mid last year (albeit with more features).

The Abarth hot-hatch version – the 695 Competizione – remains on sale, though both it and the petrol Fiat 500 are expected to be axed in the coming years, leaving the nameplate continue on in its new, battery-powered form priced from $52,500 plus on-road costs.

New for what Fiat Australia calls the Model Year 2023 version is black fabric upholstery with Fiat monograms – replacing the two-tone white/black or ivory/black fabric available last year – as well as tinted rear and rear-side windows.

However the $1900 option of the Lusso Pack – which added 16-inch wheels, seven-speaker Beats stereo, and the tinted glass – has been deleted, as well as the $1500 option of an electric sunroof (rather than a fixed glass roof).

Sicilia Orange paint is now available on the Dolcevita. Last year it was exclusive to the Lounge model, which has now been axed.

Powering the petrol 500 is a 1.2-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, which sends 51kW and 102Nm to the front wheels through a five-speed 'Dualogic' automated manual transmission (based on a traditional manual, but the car's computers control the clutch, eliminating the third pedal).

The 2023 Fiat 500 range – designated Model Year 2023, even though 2024 is three months away – is in showrooms now.
