2022 BMW 740i and i7 recalled due to windscreen wiper fault

The new-generation BMW 7 Series and i7 have been recalled in Australia, after it was discovered the luxury sedan's windscreen wipers could fail.

BMW Australia has recalled 50 examples of its 2022 BMW 740i petrol and i7 electric twins, due to a fault which could cause the luxury sedan's windscreen wipers to stop working.

The recall affects both the petrol-powered 740i and electric i7 xDrive versions of the G70-generation BMW 7 Series.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "The front windshield wipers may fail. In the event of rain this may lead to poor visibility for the driver.

"Poor visibility will potentially increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users."
