2018 Kia Optima facelift revealed in Korea
Revised sedan due in Australia Q2 2018
The facelifted 2018 Kia Optima has been revealed for the Korean market, ahead of an Australian launch later this year.
Compared to the current version, the new Optima - named K5 in its home market - gets revised front- and rear-end treatments, new alloy wheels, and some technology updates.
Up front is a reworked version of the current car's slim grille, which now has upright slats, while a new front bumper gets a more aggressive design with LED strips in place of the outgoing model's more conventional fog-lights.
At the rear there's revised LED tail-lights (above), relocated reflectors in the bumper, and a revised diffuser-style element.
In terms of technology updates, the Optima is now available with a surround-view camera system, and 'Highway Assist', which basically combines the adaptive cruise control and lane assist systems for semi-autonomous driving on the freeway.
Inside, there's revised trims and a new steering wheel - for Korea at least - including a luxurious-looking quilted leather option. There's also new LED ambient interior lighting, and the company's latest infotainment system.
Otherwise, it's pretty similar to the car currently on sale.
Australia
The updated Optima is due in Australia during the second quarter of this year, as confirmed by Kia's local communications boss, Kevin Hepworth.
