Land Rover Defender – utilitarian SUV made more luxurious by Vilner

Aftermarket off-road specialist Vilner has come up with a special upgrade kit for the current 2011 Land Rover Defender. The kit includes a significantly improved and more luxurious interior giving off a very up-market feel. The Vilner Land Rover Defender also gets a comprehensive in-car entertainment package and sound insulation.

These two examples were commissioned by a rich Russian businessman who wanted a bit more luxury with his Defender. Considering the Land Rover Defender isn't the most sophisticated 4x4 on the market to begin with, Vilner had to set about completely transforming the interior by stripping it all out and starting again.

Vilner adds additional sound and heat proofing throughout the body to give it Lexus-like on-road quietness and a more comfortable cabin even in the harshest weather conditions.

Almost every element of the Vilner Defender interior is covered in leather, including a new centre console layout covered in Nappa leather. The ceiling, the door trims and parts of the dashboard are also covered in a rustic brown leather.

To ensure passengers in the Vilner Defender never become bored, the special creation features a new 600-watt in-car entertainment system consisting of two LCD screens - one in the dash centre fascia and another 15-inch drop-down screen for rear-seat passengers.

Other suave features include ambient lighting throughout the interior, intricate LED lighting incorporated into the instruments and control settings, and front bucket seats for when the going gets rough.

The exterior is fitted with xenon HID headlights, various trimming revisions, discrete black-painted checker-plate on top of the front guards, and special spotlights for night hunting.

Vilner hasn't provided specific pricing details for the kit.
