2024 Kia Sorento V6 petrol deliveries paused due to ‘technical issue’
An as-yet unknown problem has forced a pause on deliveries of V6 petrol Kia Sorento family SUVs.
Kia Australia has been forced to pause deliveries of petrol V6 versions of its 2024 Kia Sorento large SUV while it works to fix a so-called “technical issue”.
A spokesperson for Kia Australia would not comment on the nature of the problem, but told Drive in a written statement that it was “temporary” and Sorento customers would get their cars again soon.
“There is a temporary halt on deliveries to customers while Kia Australia verifies a potential technical issue affecting some petrol variants,” they said.
The Kia Sorento – launched in December last year – currently offers a choice of a 200kW/332Nm 3.5-litre petrol V6 with front-wheel drive and a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission, or a 148kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with all-wheel-drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch auto.
Kia is due to reintroduce hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions by the end of June.
At present no recall has been published for existing vehicles – it is unclear if one will be required – nor is the related Kia Carnival people-mover, which shares the 3.5-litre V6, affected.
