2018-2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace recalled in Australia
The side curtain airbags could be fitted with faulty gas generators, according to the recall notice.
Volkswagen has recalled 157 examples of its 2018 and 2019 Tiguan Allspace, citing a potential fault with the side curtain airbags.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2018 to 2019 models, though may have been sold at later dates.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing issue, the side curtain airbags may be fitted with a faulty gas generator. As a result, the airbag may not deploy as intended.
"In the event of airbag deployment in an accident, the side curtain airbag may not provide adequate protection for vehicle occupants, which could increase their risk of injury or death."
