First BMW M2 crashed – on way to being delivered
Someone always has to be first, which is bad news for one customer as a brand-new BMW M2 performance coupe has been involved in an accident on its way to a dealer in the US.
It's the phone call no-one wants to receive.
Your brand new 2023 BMW M2 performance coupe is on the ground and being transported to the dealership for final pre-delivery check and you are set to have the 338kW/550Nm two-door muscle machine in your hands very soon.
Until the dealer calls, that is.
This is the scenario faced by one unlucky M2 customer in the US, as their car will no longer be arriving on time.
The brand-new Brooklyn Grey BMW M2 was en route to the dealership in Boston, Massachusetts, when it was involved in a three-car nose-to-tail fender bender.
According to the reports on social media, a truck rear-ended the BMW M2 and pushed it into a Toyota RAV4.
Footage shows significant damage to the rear of the car, but given the Toyota can be seen relatively unscathed, the damage to the front of the BMW is expected to be largely cosmetic, ensuring the 3.0-litre twin-turbo S58 inline six-cylinder engine can live to run another day.
The second-generation 'G87' (in geek speak) BMW M2 is due to arrive in Australian showrooms this month priced from $119,900 before options and on-road costs.
