2018-2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van recalled with brake fault
Brake fluid may leak causing stopping power to be compromised, according to the manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 2882 examples of its VS30-series Sprinter van, citing a potential fault with brake system.
The affected vehicles were sold between 8 August 2018 and 22 December 2020 (Model Years 2018-2021).
The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says: “Brake fluid may leak internally at the rear axle brake calliper over time – as a result, air may enter the rear brake system."
"Air in the brake system would lead to increased rear brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance, increasing the risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the notice continues.
CarAdvice has reached out to Mercedes-Benz in Australia for comment. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
