2018-2021 Lamborghini Aventador recalled with latch fault
The hinges on the car's bonnet may loosen, causing it to flip open or detach.
Lamborghini has recalled 22 examples of its Aventador supercar in Australia, citing a potential fault with the bonnet latch.
The affected vehicles – which comprise both the SVJ Coupe and 63 – the were sold between 1 November 2018 and 31 December 2020 (Model Year 2018-2021).
The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says: “The hood hinges may loosen and may not hold the hood closed – the hood may unlatch and flip open or detach from the vehicle.”
“If the hood flips open or detaches from the vehicle, there is an increased risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users,” the notice continues.
A spokesperson for Lamborghini in Australia told CarAdvice there have been no recorded instances of the fault locally, and this recall is purely a precautionary measure.
The spokesperson further clarified that the "hood" refers to the rear-mounted engine cover, and not the front panel over the frunk.
