2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter recalled
Welding issues force a dealer fix.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled select Sprinters built in October and November 2017, over concerns some spot welds may not have been applied.
According to the company, some spot welds on the front-side wall linking the door frame with their hinge reinforcements mightn't have been applied, on either the driver or passenger side of the car.
In an accident, the missing welds could compromise the crash safety, leading to a greater risk of injury.
Just 11 vans are impacted by the campaign – a VIN list is attached.
Mercedes-Benz is calling for owners of the affected vehicles to contact their nearest dealer for a free inspection and repair of the vehicle.
