2012-15 Infiniti Q70 / M recalled for propeller shaft fault
A total of 59 sedans recalled for a faulty propshaft, which could crack over time, snap and prevent the vehicle from moving.
Nissan Australia has recalled 59 examples of the 2012-15 Infiniti Q70 – also known as the Infiniti M, from 2012 to 2014.
According to the recall notice filed with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), "[due] to improper material and dimensions, the fatigue strength of the propeller shaft is lower than expected and the propeller shaft may crack and detach."
"If the propeller shaft cracks and detaches, the driver will notice engine noise. If the vehicle continues to be driven, the vehicle may stop without warning. If this occurs in traffic, there is an increased risk of an accident, that could result in serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users."
Affected vehicles were sold between 26 July 2012 and 31 December 2015.
A full list of all affected VINs can be found found here.
Infiniti will contact owners of affected vehicles in writing, advising them to contact their nearest dealer to organise the fitment of a replacement propeller shaft, at no cost to them.
