On this week's episode of Drive TV, we take a journey not too far from Sydney in an iconic sports car. The drive encompasses one of the best roads in the state and a visit to a world-class museum.
Drive Season 3 screens on Channel 9 at 1pm each Saturday. The full episode will be available to video on 9Now after it airs.
We've listened to your feedback and a lot of you have asked for something not too far from the city. So, we decided to enjoy some of New South Wales's South Coast – a beautiful destination not far from Sydney's CBD. The real journey begins from a suburb called Sutherland, 30km out of town.
This is the perfect starting point for the exciting and stunning drive ahead, which entails a run through the Royal National Park. This stretch is the ultimate combination of open straights and technical bends through dense national parkland, and is even more enjoyable in our manual car.
At the foot of the Sea Cliff Bridge is a stunning ocean pool, one of 100 across NSW. The Sea Cliff Bridge is one of the most picturesque reasons to visit this part of NSW.
You can find a park on either side to take in the views, but the drive across the bridge is truly remarkable. It's also a very well known landmark, with various brands using the site for TV advertisements.
This leg is around an hour and a half and includes a host of dramatic roads, especially as you get closer to Robertson.
Continuing south, we enjoyed an afternoon at Austinmer, which offers plenty of parking, a beautiful beach and ocean pool. This bustling suburb is full of great restaurants and trendy cafes, making it a perfect destination for a pit stop.
Another great place to visit is a quaint beachside suburb, Kiama. It boasts great pubs and eateries, along with the biggest blowhole in the world, which is a short stroll from the centre of town.
Our final visit was to a world-class museum called HARS, which stands for Historic Airline Restoration Society. The facility is a working airport, but also a restoration society designed to get old planes up and running. This is a worthy stop if you're heading this way, and a place the kids will love if you're on a family road trip.
The entirety of this trip through the South Coast is 142km and takes around two-and-a-half hours.
